Has anyone had this issue resolved? Thinking about purchasing a 2014 SL but reading through all this has me second guessing. 30k and former lease with all service records, but I don't feel like purchasing if this is a prevalent issue that has never been resolved. Is the shuddering/jerking something that happens with low mileage on the car, or is it something that happens regardless of the mileage?

Funny this thread has popped up again. I thought it had been solved. I had this issue at about 3000km and after a patch which worked for a bit it started again. Next service they simply replaced the transmission and no problems since (now 45000km). Jan 2015 Pathfinder ST.
Family members have since bought a Pathfinder - July 2017 and haven't had any problems.

2014 PF SL Had 4x4 warning, abs and traction control light on. Brought it in and found out tranny is hooped. 7000 kms over their extended tranny warranty. I'm out $5500 F**kin bucks. Thanks for nothing Sherwood Nissan. A week after we bought it used had a engine light come on they told me to take it to Canadian tire. Bye Bye you guys.

I am almost certain that all 2014s had the CVT warranty extended to 84 months. Ours was. I don't recall the mileage limitation though.

Replace at 34K

After I purchase my 2014 PF Platinum edition I started searching the forums and bammm!!!! I should have done the research on common problems but I was lucky I bumped into some good technicians at the place where I bought and my car not only was the Jerking problem but also at 1/4 tank of gas the car will shut off. Very dangerous if you are driving in a highway. The place I purchase agree there was an issue and they decide to change the CVT at no cost!!! However, the car kept on shutting off at 1/4 tank of gas so I figure there must be something wrong with the gas lines, pump, alternator or battery. So I took it back to the same dealer who replaced the CVT but they did not find anything wrong. Decide to take it to another dealer and eventually they found it and also replace the gas pump at no cost. When I purchase my 2014 PF it was around 26,000 miles. That is my story with my PF.

I have a new to me, 2015 Pathfinder SV (build date of 11/15). It has 27,000 miles and is Certified Pre-Owned. The torque converter and valve body were replaced at 21,000, when it was in lease with previous owner and under original factory warranty. I decided to buy, as the 2015 seemed to be mostly free of the CVT issues, solid rating from Consumer Reports and any repairs seemed effective. The car drives great, runs smooth, good power and the D-Step "downshifts" readily when needed.

Here is my question. I can "feel" the CVT at light throttle between 20 and 40 mph. more throttle or no throttle and the CVT becomes undetectable. I have seen videos of the judder/shudder and this is definately not that. It feels like when a conventional transmission is lugging slightly under load just before it downshifts. I have a scan tool and there are no codes, stored or pending.

Is what I "feel" the judder/shudder issue in its infancy, or just normal for this CVT?

Shudder comes with a vibration/hesitation. CVT's behave differently than regular transmissions, you'll get used to it. The D-step only works under heavy acceleration and at about 4000 rpm. All it is is a quick pause and slight downshift to simulate normal shifting.

Thanks. I had a feeling all was well.
All "new" vehicles have a bit of a learning curve; this one has a bit more in learning the traits of the CVT. I must say I do like the way it moves the car, smooth and strong.

Just don't expect to accelerate quickly from a dead stop, even if you floor it. The engine just goes quiet.

I don't follow. Mine revs nicely and accelerates quickly...

CV axles

Has anyone ever associated the shuddering issue with CV axles? Im about to replace my half shaft in the front due to boot failure and am curious if the results are different as my axle is clicking and shudders during acceleration.

The CVT shudder usually happens around the 30-40km/hr mark with very light acceleration, you are just touching the accelerator to maintain speed, not accelerating or decelerating, in the sweetspot, where the CVT doesn't know to move up a gear or go down a gear, then if your CVT has issues it will shudder to the $hit house and feel like you are driving over a rumble strip.

I have the same issue and Nissan mechanics said that this is normal in the old CVT transmissions and I don’t need to worry about this. I am still confused if I leave this issue as is, will it become a bigger issue.
