Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself and my new 2023 Pathfinder Rock Creek in Baja storm Metallic. I've never owned a Nissan before because I was always skeptical of the CVT transmission. However, I was in the market for an AWD vehicle with a third-row seat, and the Rock Creek was one of the few options available. I was fortunate enough to find a used one, and I jumped on it as soon as I could.

I am pleased to say that I am enjoying the ride and overall experience with the Pathfinder. The Rock Creek's standard transmission was a big selling point for me, and the ride has been smooth and enjoyable.

I have a few questions, though, that I hope someone can help me with.
Firstly, does anyone know what the roof weight capacity is on the Pathfinders? The rack on the Rock Creek is rated for 220lbs, but I am considering putting a roof tent on it and I am not sure if the roof can support it.

Secondly, I am curious as to why the vehicle does not remember my driving settings. For example, every time I start the car, I have to set the drive modes, safety shield, and auto start/stop. It would be convenient if the vehicle could remember these settings for me , button latching would be awesome.

Lastly, I noticed that the doors on the Pathfinder seem very light compared to our other vehicle, a Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. The doors on the Santa Fe Sport seem much heavier and sturdier than the ones on the Pathfinder. Has anyone else noticed this?

Overall, I am very happy with my new Pathfinder, and I am grateful to have found this forum specifically for Pathfinder owners. Thanks in advance for any insights you can offer me!

-Ish

Welcome to the forum, Ish! Man, how were you able to find a used 2023 Rock Creek? The planets must have been in alignment for you, lol!

This thread may give you some insight to your roof tent question:
(1) Hii everyone. I just joined 15 mins ago as a new member, and straight away, I did my first search on 'roof top tent' and ....0 results...?! | Nissan Pathfinder Forum (pathfindertalk.com)
I know!!!! I found it on Carmax not even sure how they came up because from what ive seen they are very hard to come by even new! The carfax stated the vehicle had a lien so Im guessing it was repossessed from the previous owner. It was owned for about 6 months. They racked up 6500 miles on it before i got to it. Carmax was a breeze and they had it at a good price. Had to drive out to San Diego (im in Orange County Ca) to get it and it was worth it. Happy to be here :)

Congrats, color looks awesome!

On your second question, unfortunately, this is working as expected. This is one of the most common gripes and/or missed opportunities about the new bells/whistles included with the R53. Nissan opted to not include a settings memory option and you have to manually set driving settings every time you start the vehicle. Especially the auto start/stop feature. Nissan gave us a switch to disable it, but you have to do it every time you start the vehicle. Not a permanent toggle off option, as you might expect.

Ironically, Nissan included user profiles linked to your key fob, but that only applies to infotainment and climate control settings. I guess the other driver settings weren't important.. lol

Hey My Rock Creek Came with the Toyo AT3 tires. Ive never used all terrain tires before. And although they are louder than what im used to I do feel when braking that it sounds like a winding down turbine type of sound.. Is this normal? I took my Pathfinder to the dealer just to get it checked and they said everything looks good. Brakes,Tires, Wheels all seem fine and they said that it brakes as it should. Curious to know your take on this.. And have you experienced it?

You'll have to excuse me on the "tire noise gremlin" as the Toyo AT3's on my RC are the "tamest" tires I've had on any of my previous personally owned vehicles. I'm a devote BFG KO2 AT tire guy, and I'm already hoping for a set on my RC after the Toyo's are spent at 50-55K (at best).

The road noise from All Terrain tires is distinctly different from the sound of All Season tires on most car-based SUVs, and there's different mfg thread patterns that make unique sounds when driven on pavement. Case in point: BFG KO2's have a lower "humming" & "squealing" on smooth pavement than the Goodyear DuraTrac's higher pitch on the same road, same vehicle, and inflation.

I don't have any previous experience with anything from Toyo, but I'd imagine that our RC tires have their own sound signature that will take getting used to. Especially if they're filled to 36-40psi w/ N2 and if you're smooth & steady on the brakes, as it seems these new Pathfinders are very "quiet" on the streets (which I'm not used to). I'd say just keep the tires properly inflated (w/ N2, if possible), don't overload the GVWR, watch the turns, brake moderately, rotate every 5K, and keep on rolling (sound or no sound). This new RC is the "highest class" vehicle I've been Blessed with, so it rides like a limo to me (compared to my Xterra, and previous Wrangler and Rodeo Sport).

Looks sharp. I have a crimson two tone Platinum.

The weight on the RC rack is a little higher than the standard rails, but not much. The consensus here is the RC rails look cool but the spacing and size is off, so they are not compatible with everything you would hope. It is styled to reflect the Xterra, but functionality is not as great. This is just what I have read and heard.

The ASS button is conveniently next to the parking brake, so I have developed a habit of pressing it shortly after shifting out of park. The drive mode selector feels like mechanical selection, however it is an electronic relay that resets when power is removed. I drive 95% of the time in auto. Occasionally I'll go Sport, and I select two when the boat is behind me. The safety features should remain from your last drive... I believe my lane departure and other notifications are permanently disabled but I will check on that.

Hello ish.., good color on your Nissan. I also have a two-tone one, but red. Although it’s more likely Cherry and also two-tone, but I already covered the roof with film myself. As we know the previous model and this Pathfinder are not frame vehicles. Nissan strengthened the body of this model compared to the previous model and installed all aluminum plumage that is, all doors, hood, not sure about the rear door, but I think so too. Therefore, to close the hood you need to make a little effort, which was a surprise for me at the beginning, and the doors become lighter accordingly.
