I'm not fixing this issue, I'm trading it in. Nissan was notified and case# was created.
It's a shame to have to do so, but is a wise move at this point IMO. Hopefully you'll get something acceptable in terms of trade-in allowance on it. The 2013 will be great for someone with a donor vehicle, time, resources and ability to fix it.

UPDATE: After looking for a specific replacement vehicle and getting nowhere, I decided to have it looked at by a welder who specializes in this type of work. Needless to say he was able to make a proper repair and has saved me from throwing in the towel and taking a bath in car payments. Total cost was 3 hours of labor including materials and it's back on the road with control and steering straight as arrow.

It's not pretty, but if it holds for a year or two and passes inspection (if applicable l) I guess why not.. I say good for you!!

I would fluid film or woolwax the heck out of the inside and outside of those subframes to try to preserve what's left.

The job is secure although not cosmetically clean as you would expect from a machine but the owner is DOT certified amongst other things. Most of the pictures are just pieced together but the bottom plate, inner weld and weld are secured welding. This job will last longer than the vehicle itself. I'm going back to have the drivers side bottom plate made since it's all gone. Since this episode is now behind me I've moved on to replacing front a rear brakes and rotors and enjoying the spring and summer months and beyond.

All, I bought my pathfinder brand new in 2013. It has a 140k miles on it and just recently the rear subframe cracked. The car is well maintained and always kept in a garage. Has anyone seen any bulletins or policy statements or has delt with Nisan on this? It appears this issue is not unknown to the pathfinder and other nissan vehicles. On the Altimas Nissan was fixing this problem. I have reached out to the dealer with no results. Please let me know if anyone has any experience with this.
I also have a 2013 pathfinder bought new as well. I went to get a wheel alignment and was told that my rear subframe was cracked. They were amazed that the rest of my under carriage was in very good condition. My vehicle is well maintained.

More pictures and I'm happy to say report the rest of the frame is visibly solid. I removed some more surface rust and added Rust Reformer and plan to give it mat black coating on two weeks time permitting. Hopefully someone of the future can reference this post and save thier ride iregardless of the brand. I have to say that Secured Welding out of East Haven CT did a great job keeping this one from the scrapper and allowing not have too buy another over priced vehicle. Added a bonus Pic of the engine bay to show how clean the rest of the vehicle is kept and another one to show off some new stopping power going in front and rear. Might as well drop some coin maintenance as planned before this all started.

My rear subframe is rusted in my 2013 Pathfinder. Part has been on order for over a year.

Wow, I hope your waiting because your getting it under a warranty. There are tons of used and new ones online but I couldn't come to terms with the cost of replacement and opted for a repair which in my case was feasible. Keep us updated although I feel our generation has slowly been moved on from.

It's hard to say. In today's market it could be worth replacing if the rest of the vehicle is good. Based on the what I can see in your pic, the rest might be fine. It looks like a new replacement subframe is about $1100. Add what is ever breaks or needs replacing in the process, plus labor, this is probably a $2500-$3000 job easy.

Lots can go wrong with a Pathfinder of this vintage. CVT, transfer case, rear coupling, A/C compressor, HVAC issues, etc. The first three are $3-5K to fix.

I just had the rear subframe replaced in my ‘13 Pathfinder. I am the original owner, bought it “new” in ‘15 as a leftover. It has low miles (80k). It’s been garaged from day 1. I live on the Jersey Shore. Not really a Mecca for mass amounts of snow.
You hit the nail on the head with your cost estimate! I was charged nearly $2600. I want to keep this vehicle for at least another 4 years. Hope the new subframe doesn’t rot out in the mean time!?!

Sorry to hear you had to have it done, but it's a wise investment if the vehicle is in overall good condition still.

I just watched a South Main Auto video on youtube where they replaced the rear subframe on a 2015 Altima that was total swiss cheese. The shop owner there is awesome and located a good used rear assembly from Alabama. It looked brand-new. I bet it cost that owner $2K easily.

As much as the shiddy metal Nissan uses P's me off, at least they are smart and mount the subrames on studs that are welded into the vehicle's unibody. This makes subframe replacement somewhat easy to do vs. bushings/bolts, etc.

You really aren't in rustbelt territory, but I'd still invest in some type of oil undercoating. I use fluid film and woolwax on all my vehicles, but I live in the rustiest of rusty places.

I have the same problem, however, mine completely broke off. Nissan has literally risked my family's life and Im not happy with this at all. They need to recall this and fix this issue as soon as possible if they care about their customers.

Hi,
My 2013 pathfinder has145k on it, My rear sub frame just failed due to rust. I’m the original owner. The rest of the car is clean. Front sub frame is losing paint but no rot like the rear. I live in the rust belt and have taken many ski trips with it over the years. If anyone has seen a bulletin about this please advise.
Did you end up doing in the repair on this? I just discovered the same thing on my 2014.

My daughters 2013 pathfinder rear drivers side frame just broke into. Car is body and mechanically sound including the frame on the passenger side. Anyone have success getting it repaired? Please help!
Did you end up keeping the car? Did you do the repair? I just discovered something very similar on my rear sub frame. I have a 2014 with only 80,000 mi on it otherwise in great shape.
