Might be a faulty throttle position sensor.

Have you taken it to a mechanic recently? If you haven't, once you do, suggest that the throttle position sensor may be the issue.

another cause could be the fuel pump, and possibly others.

No. I was hoping to save myself the expense. I guess i'll start with the fuel filters first.. Is there more than the one filter at the rear or is it the only one?

Is it throwing any codes (i.e. check engine light)? Pretty much has to be fuel or spark - I would tend to think a bad TPS would throw a code.

The service engine light is on.
Most major auto parts stores (at least around here) have a loaner scan tool if you don't have one already. I would scan for codes and then Google what you find. That should set you on the right path, so you don't go only a costly wild goose chase replacing parts.

It was the idle sensor. Thanks for the help.
Glad to hear you found it. Were you able t clean it, or did you need to replace it outright?
