Still don't know if we're talking about the "finisher" as Nissan refers to them (exterior chrome piece as mentioned above). If it is, I know it was a ~$1000 piece on my 2016 Quest and it only comes as the whole assembly.

Mine is broken as well. I don't understand how this happened. Any inexpensive solutions out there? Cant afford $1000 repair. Went from sticking to not opening and now assembly feels off tract or something.

Google "Pathfinder rear finisher". I looks like replacements aren't crazy expensive for this model. I see some for ~$150. It looks like the camera pops out and back into the replacement.

The only suggestion I would have is if there is no foam or clear 3M tape behind the finisher, put some there. Every later model Nissan product you see with rust on the trunk or lift gate around this piece (and there is TON of them) is due to this finisher digging into the paint behind it. I went through it with my 2016 Nissan Quest.

They break all the time. To replace them you take off the interior lift gate trim and can get to like 4 nuts that hold the part in. It's that whole chrome piece that comes off, with the stitch in it. I believe the nuts are 8mm and you'll need an extension and probably deep socket to reach them.

Check ebay or local junk yards for the part.

I own a 2018 Pathfinder and pieces simply fell apart in my hand as I was attempting to open the hatch.

How did you fix it?
I have the same issue, it must be a defect in this model. I am taking mine in for the second time in less than a year. Not happy…
Mine just did the same left side sunk in, it has sticked so bad since I got it brand new and when that snapped now its easier to get the trunk open now. I have a 2017.

Has anyone else had their rear hatch panel break (own 2018)
Yes..my 2020 has a manual release above the license plate. It broke in the first year. The dealership said they would make an exception and cover it under warranty..

The y also said I pushed to hard on the button. Reality is the part is not sufficiently rugged and without continuous caution it will break again.

Nissan should fix the design and have a recall..this latch is a piece of junk

Has anyone had any success fixing this?
@Rachel Since it's winter, I kind of lost ambition attempting a DIY fix on mine. LOL.

I'd like to at some point try the hack fix of gently prying off the chrome cladding from the rear finisher piece, glue the switch assembly in place and then glue the chrome cladding back on. I see ZERO value in replacing the switch because it will break free the same way eventually.
