Rear brakes

Have a 22 pathfinder 27k miles. Dealer said needs rotors resurfaced. I looked through the rim and rotors appear to be smooth. Not sure if they need to be resurfaced.
Went to the auto part store and nothing came up in the computer for brakes or rotors. What aftermarket part should I look up for rotors and pads? Is nissan still using 2020 parts?

Hey Mike - I am with you on this one! How can the dealer tell you the rotors need to be resurfaced and yet, you can't visualize the imperfections yourself? I don't trust the dealer/stealer all the time, especially when (this) appears to be a money grab (at only 27 K miles, no less!)

Don't call them "Stealerships" for nothing. Prime example, put brand new brake pads and rotors about a month before I took car to Nissan for my first CVT drain. Paper work comes back stating my brakes need replaced LOL.

Why do you need your rotors machined? Did you complain about a pulsation when stopping? If you did then you can't see a rotor that's not parallel. Only with a dial gauge indicator can you see if it's out of round causing the pulsation. If you didn't complain about that or they didn't say anything about brake pulsation then. Nevermind. .

Oil change. Didn’t tell the advisor anything other than oil change.

You gotta think, your in there for a oil change, like prob a $70 service. It's a way to upsell more maintenance to customers. I'd take tire off and inspect them yourself. Look for uneven wear, or groves in your rotor. And obviously inspect how much brake pad material ya have left.

Needs rotors resurfaced without changing pads and hardware? LOL! Some dealers never disappoint in the shocker category.

Sadly, at just shy of 30K miles, you will need rear pads and rotors very soon. Mail order your parts from Rock Auto if you have the time and intend to DIY.

In the rust belt where I live, they typically won't resurface rotors. Only replace. I'd imagine a nissan "value line" set of rotors and pads done by a nissan dealer would be $400-500/per axle.

my last set of rotors were from Orielly's so far so good and im on my 3rd set soon to get a resurface or order some StopTech Cryo heavy duty's. 4 of us riding in the car so hotter rotors & rain season driving makes them go out of true quickly

dealer service advisors and crooks are the same in my opinion.

This is just pathetic. 27K miles on a 2022 Pathfinder, and the thing is already pulsating during braking. I pulled the wheel off yesterday to inspect the rotors and pads, and the pads are almost completely worn out! To add insult to injury, none of the local auto parts stores have replacement pads in stock because this is such a new vehicle. Not even my local Nissan dealer has them. What a joke!

It gets better... i finally found a dealer with brake pads and drove an hour to go get them. I swapped them out and it still pulsates when braking! The front brakes look beefy with tons of pad life left, so it seems like the rear rotors must be warped. Has anyone else had the rear rotors warp with low mileage? I'm wondering if Nissan will warranty replace the rotors. This just isn't right!

My '22 PF had warped rotors - it started pulsating at high speed breaking around 15K miles. Dealer resurfaced rotors under warranty, but didn't want to change pads. Definitely take it to the dealer.

Thanks MikeZ, I took it up to the dealer and dropped it off. I'll report back on what they say.

MikeZ, was it just your rear rotors that were warped? The front brakes look MUCH beefier and mine had plenty of pad life. It would seem unlikely that folks are having problems with the front.

Yes rear rotors. For some reason in these new '22 rear wearing off faster than front, even pads goes faster.

Pads went pretty fast on my 2016 platinum Murano too… not 20,000 miles fast, but still fast.
LOL, the dealer came back and said that they felt vibration when heavy braking at high speeds, but they said the rotors measured within tolerance. They said the tread is low and they are recommending new tires. WTF?!

Thank you for the update.
I suggest you to take it to another dealer. If it would be problem with tires, you would feel vibration all the time (at low or high speed), but you said you feel it only when braking. Sounds like they are trying to brash you off. I would not give up

I completely agree. It makes no sense, but sadly this kind of crap doesn't surprise me from these stealerships. I found a good deal on OEM rotors and bought them online. If the rotors fix the issue, I will give them an opportunity to reimburse me before filing a complaint with Nissan corporate, BBB, etc.. and leaving an accurate review of my experience on all of the socials. I don't plan on letting them get away with this crap unscathed.
