Passenger Seat Too Low

I bought a 2022 SL 3 months ago. So far it has been a nice car. It's my wife's car and it is the one used for all family trips. The main and only complaint that my wife has about it is the passenger seat height. It is way too low. My wife is 5' 6" and she likes sitting high. I have seen a few posts within some threads with same complaint. I am trying to keep this thread active so people can share any ways to raise the seat.

Although my wife likes driving the car, she is getting close to considering selling it due to the seat height. We are using a booster cushion that we bought from Amazon, but it is not an ideal scenario.

The plastic pieces have tabs on the inside of the sides that snap onto the plastic around the seat rail. You have to carefully disengage the tabs and then slide the cover off.

Followed (& Appreciated)...

Amazon lists:

"Currently unavailable.
We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock."

Anyone know of alternate websites or different parts?

THX
Amazon item " HSPSWIFTER 0.25" to 1.5" Adjustable Front Seat Spacer Lift Kit Compatible with Tacoma 4Runner FJ and GX (Rear of Front Seat Recline Kit) " is listed in stock now (...?), and I've ordered two pairs of them. I'm jumping the gun a bit by purchasing these, as I'll be picking up the new RC next week.

Roger, WILCO.

They had to track down my particular RC because 4×4/AWD models are not really preferred by dealerships down here in the S.East (for some bogus reason), and Gun Metallic is not a "popular color". Whatever...:unsure:

In 2013 I was living in south Florida. I wanted to buy an AWD Ford Explorer but there were none from Miami north to Palm Beach. It turned out Nissan had a couple AWD Pathfinders nearby so we ended up with a 2013 Platinum AWD.

I haven't had the chance to sit in the passenger seat yet, but it will primarily hold my day pack and work bag.

I'm pretty shocked that Nissan is skimping out on features and options on these new Pathfinders, and a low seat design for passenger side S / SV / RC models is pretty "low" indeed...
I have a 22 Platinum and the passenger seat is just ridiculous. My girlfriend has to sit on a seat cushion to see over the dashboard/hood...in a $50K truck! My mom can barely see over the hood but she deals with it. I filed a complaint with Nissan and they said there is nothing they can do "because that's how it was designed" and there is nothing wrong with it. I even asked if the 23 seat could be installed and they said no because it was designed for the 23 only. He also told me that installing the risers will void the warranty. I really think Nissan needs more complaints from 22 owners so they can really see it's a major issue. I've actually gone up to a few people driving Pathfinders to ask them to call and file a complaint. If you are reading this and haven't filed a complaint then please take a few minutes to call them and voice your dissatisfaction because there is strength in numbers. I find it hard to believe that Nissan will continue to ignore continuous complaints/concerns about safety and comfort... (215)943-6200

No warranty will be void by adding the risers. That’s complete and utter BULLSH*T. They have to PROVE that any aftermarket accessory or added parts CAUSED, beyond a reasonable doubt, the issues at hand which will be impossible from adding 1.25” spacers to the front seat. Any idiot at the dealer that stated this is worthless of your time. Also. A 23’ seat system will 100% fit into your 22’. It’s the same model year, same bolt holes, etc. Find a new dealer or someone to talk to at your dealership. All they are doing is feeding you lies.

Saw two (2) '23 Rock Creeks here on base today, and BOTH owners stated that they were each surprised by the (lack of) height of the passenger seat and that they, too, are using seat cushions for occupants.

The 2 sets of seat spacers I ordered will be here by this Thursday via UPS, which might even be before my RC arrives at the dealership...(n)

Actually, the onus of proving all that would fall on whomever did the modification.
If the occupant dies or gets badly injured in a crash, Nissan and an insurance company could wash their hands because the seat height was altered and aftermarket bolts were used.
I agree that it would be all BS but that is how the legal system works. If you replace the seat or use the frame of a 2023 and then use OEM bolts, it would be harder for them to deny anything.

The pair of seat spacers from Amazon arrived today, and we pick up the RC tomorrow morning at the dealership. This will be the first time my Wife is present to actually sit in the passenger seat and I'm taking my Mom to church in the RC this coming Sunday, so I'll see what they say about the stock seat height before I do the install.

The set(s) look good and seem pretty stout, even though they are from the PRC. More to follow...

Are the heads of the bolts stamped with a gauge number?

The heads of the bolts are all stamped " GA 8.8 ".

The Mrs states that the passenger seat is easy to get into & out of but she doesn't like how low she sits and can't see the hood (much less over it). She asked if the Dealership can just yank out a powered passenger seat out of a Platinum or SL and install it in our RC if we gave them a "quick couple of bills"...:ROFLMAO::LOL:

Does the 23' SL have an adjustable passenger seat? Thanks, Ron

UPDATE:

Well, I finally got around to installing the seat spacers under the front passenger seat of my RC. I've gotta say that although the seat is indeed "higher" and at a much more ideal height within the new Pathfinder, the issue of seat stability and rigidity is a concern of mine. Granted, I used all of the included spacers together to get an idea of how much height would be gained by installing everything from each of the four (4) sets I purchased.

There are "indentions" on the floor where the passenger seat rails are bolted down and I feel that if Nissan only made these areas level with the rest of the interior there wouldn't be a problem with the height of the manual passenger seats of RC, SV, and S trim models. As it is, these "pockets" in the floor under the front passenger seat are an enigma to me as I don't see their purpose. Maybe an engineer or someone in-the-know can explain them...

Since I have the RC All-Season Floor Mats, I'll have to "trim" the mat that covers the right rear of the passenger seat in order to have the mat sit more flush to the floor. The three (3) other corners are somewhat good to go with their appearance under their respective areas underneath the floor mats. I'll have my Wife try out the seat with the spacers installed, but I (personally) don't like the idea of the base of the seat sitting atop the round spacers and not flat floor itself. Not a fan of the covers and mats not being flush with the floor either...

Maybe "custom hockey pucks" or something more broader underneath the passenger seat that is just as thick as the spacers, and something to fill up the "pockets" in the floor.

Here are some quick pics of the rear spacer on the passenger seat from earlier today (I used all of them to get an idea of the total height gained)...

Look carefully at the following links of the (then new) 2022 Pathfinder and scope out the passenger seat height (& who was sitting in it)...

I don't know what the egg-heads at Nissan were thinking, but the "pockets" under the passenger seat (OR the lack of taller seat brackets & rails) is a real mystery. I can see the whole attraction to the "theater seating" affect for the second row occupants, but the front passenger is just about out of the picture with the seat as it is in RC, SV, and S trim model Pathfinders.

I need to look inside a SL or Platinum Pathfinder to see if they also have these "pockets" underneath the front passenger seats, even with their power adjustable seats. Unless we all brain-storm something else beside these spacers for additional height, I may just use a high quality seat cushion/booster for my Wife and Mom (when needed).

If it helps at all, I felt like 1 inch of additional seat height was plenty rather than the 1 1/2 inches the full kit provides.

Roger, WILCO. I'll try 1" height in the morning if I have time. Having local shop install speakers, sub, and front & rear cameras tomorrow. Two days for the work, so I'm going back to my " X ".:ROFLMAO:
