All,

Wanted to see if anyone has some experience with this.

2015 Pathfinder SV with towing package, 47k miles

I was recently towing my pop-up camper, such weighs maybe 2250 pounds fully loaded. I was going highway speeds and then started going up a steep hill.

The Pathfinder kicked out of cruise control. When I stopped for gas I checked and saw the P101 error code Mass or volume air flow circuit range performance problem

It hasn't repeated, but I've also been sure to not push as hard up the hills

Is this indicative of a problem?

Thanks for any insight

It's a common code. It could be a lot of different things, usually a dirty throttle body or intake leak. Super dirty air filter or broken/not properly sealed airbox can do it. There is an ecm update for many models that may apply to yours if you want to pay for it.

It could have been the trailer and steep hill though. The code sets when the MAF signal is not what the ecm is expecting, based on things like throttle position, air temp, load.

I'd probably just clear it and see if it comes back. If you can't reproduce it on a road trip, a shop probably isn't going to reproduce it if you bring it there.
