Although the metal is thinner all the way around on the Pathfinder, adjusting the hood latch did improve the slight shake my car hood had. I only really noticed it on windy days driving at highway speeds and had the dealer make the adjustment.

 

I still dont get how Nissan didn't notice this when the car was still in pre production development..

 

maybe it didn't happen on a pre-production level and started during production?
or maybe they didn't want this to hold them back from selling them and just stuck to the schedule, deciding to fix it later.

 

Didn't they test the vehicle in a wind tunnel or something, or do air flow test on it, for heavens sake

 

Hi guys/gals, first post and just joined this forum. Glad I found it. I have the same issue on my new 14 Platinum. Anything north of a $1.20 it starts to flutter and it is latched.

Take it up with the dealership on first service visit I guess.

Taking it up with the dealer is the best thing to do. When is your first service coming up?

 

Well only sitting at about 1800 km so will be a couple months I guess. Only picked it up on 27th Jan.

Other than that all good.

 

I don't know if anybody mentioned this but I believe all Pathy hoods are fiberglass, well mine is and it flutters just like my buddy's Corvette hood which is also fiberglass.

 

are you sure its not aluminum?

 

Took mine to the dealer for that issue along with another and they made an adjustment and it seemed to do the trick. While driving there it had the shake and on the way home it was gone. So in the same driving conditions I noticed the adjustment made a difference.

 

Its caused by a very common problem in most cars currently built. While the grill opening is huge, there is no place for any volume of air to go once its in the engine compartment. As a result the engine compartment becomes pressurized and will try to push the hood open.

 

Noticed our hood fluttering on our road trip this week. Very annoying. Glad it can be fixed, the Pathfinder runs great at 80mph.

 

Having drilled into it to install the hood deflector, I can tell you with some certainty that it is NOT made of fiberglass. Your salesperson was talking out of his hindquarters.

So what is it made of? Last night I took a magnet to it to see if it sticks and it didn't stick...so is it aluminum or what? I tried googling and found no info.

 

I know it dents easily with the smallest amount of hail...
