I just purchased a used 2020 Pathfinder Platinum. If I park it on any kind of a grade and engage the parking brake it does not hold and drifts forward. It does not hold in neutral but the vehicle holds if I also put it in Park along with depressing the emergency brake.

I took it to the dealer and they told me the emergency brake was operating as designed but it seems to me it should hold the vehicle when it is in neutral and not have to depend on the “Park” gear to keep it in place. Any thoughts?

It sounds like it is not working properly. In NY, part of annual safety inspection is to put the vehicle in drive with the e-brake on, and it's supposed to hold with a small throttle application. So, yours would certainly fail that test if it doesn't hold in neutral. I would bring it back and tell them that it moves with the brake on. If you can show the service writer when you get there, even better.

I know if I forget to release the e-brake on my 2013 Pathy, it doesn't move!
