Hi all. I purchased my Pathfinder in early Feb. It is a 2020 with the tow package. I am looking at a Forrest River NOBO 19.8, the technical specs are as follows. Do you think I could tow this? I am getting conflicting answers in the FR FB pages. It mostly would be myself and my sister.

UVW
3789 lb.
CCC
1006 lb.
Exterior Length:
22' 8"
Exterior Height:
TBD
Exterior Width:
88"
Fresh Water:
30.00 gal.
Gray Water:

Awning Size:

Your 2020 is rated at 6000lbs. The weight of the trailer is 3789lbs. That is before you add propane, water, clothes, food, etc. Looks like you can go up to 1006 lbs of that stuff. That puts you just below 5000lbs. You should have 1000lbs to spare. Don't forget that you also need to calculate everything that you bring into the vehicle. Typical vehicle weight includes a 150lb driver. That's it. Add the weight of your sister, and whatever you are carrying in the vehicle.

The number you want to look at is the GVWR, which is the UVW+CCC. That ends up being just shy of 5000lbs.
With just you and one other person, you will probably be ok most of the time. If you plan to tow anywhere in the mountains, or with very large hills, you are going to be working the PF very hard.

You would be much better off to drop down to something more in the 4000lb GVWR range.

That TT is very similar to my inlaws Jayco in looks and specs, although they pull it around with a pickup truck.

You're doing the right thing researching first.

The issue besides weight with a travel trailer like this is the exterior size and lack of aerodynamics. It takes a lot just to pull them through the air.

I have no experience towing with a late model PF, but with a big box shaped TT like this, I wouldn't want more than ~4000lbs behind a PF.

I purchased a travel trailer weighing 3200lbs. dry. Pulling it with my 2017 Pathfinder two hours home I knew it was behind me. At this weight, long trips will probably be out if the question. Equipped with electric brakes and sway bar helped. Unfortunately haven't had a chance to camp since we bought it so no other experience towing it.

Don't know exactly the payload of the newer Pathys but even if the hitch weight says 395 lbs. you have to watch how much weight is on the front tongue with the cargo. Too much and you'll be dipping low and too much weight on the rear of the trailer and you will have sway control issues. I also believe that the a lighter TT would be a lot less stressful when driving in windy conditions, up inclines, and when big transports go whizzing by you. Nothing worse than having no convidence in your towing vehicle and being in a situation where your white knuckling all the way.

I have a 2015 PF Platinum with a tow capacity of 5,000 lbs. I tow a 2018 Jayco 154BH with a GVWR of 3200. It tows it just fine even when I'm packed up for a long trip. I am looking to upgrade to a slightly larger trailer, however, I am leery of adding any additional weight to the PF and may need to look at a new car as well.

I just purchased a 19.8 No Boundaries. It has a GVWR of 4700 lbs. I have talked to many people who tow that exact camper with a Pathfinder, I am not worried. It will only be my sister and I, and we pack very light. I will let you know after several trips.

But, I just saw yours is a 5000 capacity. Mine is 6000. I am not sure you want to go any heavier. My dry weight of the trailer is 3789, with a ccc of 1009, which I will never have that much weight in it. Good luck

Hello. I am very interested to know how you have been with your PF and trailer. I have the same TT weight and Pathfinder and I would **** to know if I can make a long trip.

cathib007 was last seen Sept. 2022....however it sounds to me you would be fine with WDH and pack fairly light. This site has SO much info and threads of info for you to research
