Airbag light flashing, dealership quoted 2700

I have my airbag light flashing
I cleared it by following some directions (turning on the ignition and then off a few times) and then it came back on a week later
The quote i received from the service center says drivers side airbag module has internal failure
The only option I was given to fix is to replace the drivers side seat back at a cost of $2700, they stated that no airbags will deploy until this has been compelted

The service center said there is not an option to only replace the module, the whole seat back is required to be replaced.
Does anyone have information on this particular airbag module or replacement of it
I feel for you. You might see my earlier posts re: a Monitor failure in my 17 Pathfinder; one Dealer quote was

My earlier post showed a quote from one Dealer of $1845.95 for a new Monitor and I had it done for $750 at another Dealer...I know this is not Airbag related but the experience showed me that there are not that many honest dealers out there anymore. As others have suggested, I would go to a good Wrecker and get a replacement seat for a fraction of the dealer price. (I used to own an X-Terra and I got a rear door replacement even with the same upholstery for $125. and 4 bolts later it was like new.)
