Just in case anyone else is looking to do this... I didn't want to have a power cable for the radar detector hanging down and partially obstructing the entertainment or AC controls. Although hard-wiring a radar detector is not new, sharing wire colors for the rear-view mirror on my 2022 Pathfinder SL with Homelink buttons (non-premium trim).

The wire harness to the back of the rear-view mirror has (3) cables going to it. I carefully pushed down on the connector clip and gently pulled it out to unplug it from the rear-view mirror. It's a (10) pin connector with only (3) wires.

Wire colors: (this may vary, check for your vehicle to confirm)

Purple/White (right)(+) Switched
Black (middle)(-) Ground
White/Black (left)(+) Constant

Hand Finger Material property Wrist Thumb

Finger Passive circuit component Eyewear Wrist Circuit component

Caution - wires may vary I used a rear-view mirror plug wire tap to connect to the + switched (purple/white wire on right) and - ground (black wire in middle).

Mirror Tap: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B097MGX318/

Line Font Technology Cable Office supplies

To clean up the installation, I zip tied the wire tap to the rear-view mirror harness cable.

Finished product:

White Automotive lighting Light Automotive mirror Automotive side-view mirror

Total installation time, about 5 min once you disconnect the harness from the rear-view mirror. No hanging wires on the dash and no long cable runs down to the vehicle fuse box.

I hope this helps.

Nice, clean job. Although these radar detectors are illegal in some states, your install can be used for other things like dashboard camera. Thank you for sharing

I am about to install Uniden R4 or maybe the new R8 in the pathfinder. My vehicle has the normal rear view mirror with the tab on the bottom to flick back and forth. I wonder if the Blendmount will give enough clearance and work. Since I don’t have a power mirror, my guess is I’ll have to tap into the fuse box with an add a fuse and extended hard wire cord.

Nice! Yeah, probably the case if there's no other source of power in the immediate area.
