2020 SL Rock Creek, bought on Jan 1, 2020. The sales agent tried to demo the lift gate under body kick, but it didn't work at the time. I thought nothing of it, but since then discovered that the external door lock buttons don't function either. I assume this is related somehow. The lift gate does work with the manual button, but not the kick.
Is there any experience with this kind of problem? Or is it some kind of setting I don't know about.

Most likely the tailgate switch located on the left-bottom dash, below the steering wheel is set to OFF.

Most likely-not. Pushing the button in, where it displays on, does nothing.

There are 2 buttons, one is a push button that opens/closes the tailgate and another one that turns it on/off.

If your PF has a tow hitch, it's really tricky to get the tailgate to open with the foot motion. A Nissan person demonstrated it to me once and I was able to do it, but I just don't have the patience to keep slowly moving my foot around in just the right way in just the right spot when I want it to open. So, while it does work, I always use the fob to open it. Don't know if you have a tow hitch installed or not.

I don't know about the door locks, but also struggled at first with our "magic foot dance" for the lift gate. We have a 2018 with tow, and found that most of the problem was simply us standing too close and apparently were missing the sweet spot. This video shows it pretty well.

for the kick to open, you need to be standing in the middle of the vehicle and kick twice, slowly. there's an arrow on the bumper that indicates where to kick.

and, yeah, if that button on the dash is turned off, the kick won't work and neither will pressing the button on the door itself. and it's too darn easy to hit that button with your knee....

Just purchased a pre-owned Nissan Pathfinder SL 2020. The issue is with the liftgate "closing". It opens fine from the dashboard, the foot sensor or the keyfob remote. However, it does not CLOSE either from the KeyFOB, the dashboard or the button around the liftgate. Nothing I do helps close it in exception of manually closing it beyond halfway or so towards the close. The dealer has it for the past 5 weeks and can't locate the issue why the liftgate hatch can open but not close. Any solutions or perhaps the exact sensor which controls closing OR needs replacement. I want my car back. Thanks folks!
