Hi folks,
I have a 2017 PF that up until this winter has been running well. Since the beginning of the winter we've had intermittent issues with loss of power and what feels like miss-fires.

On initial inspection my mechanic (based on codes) said the issue was the mass airflow sensor. He initially tried cleaning it but the issue persisted. We've since replace the MAS but the issue still seems to be present. The mechanic has also mentioned that it could be build up on the valves which requires cleaning, he suggested he might as well do the plugs at the same time. This is not a cheap endeavor so looking for other opinions here.

The one nagging thought I have is that the issue always seems to present during cool wet weather. Usually if there is snow or slush on the roads. This makes me think it's tied to an electronic short or something. Not being mechanically inclined in anyway to validate that theory but it just seems like a logical explanation.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Year? Mileage? Seafoam every 10,000 miles has been good to me in every vehicle I've owned since 18 years old. Check for any leaks in the air filter intake too. The ridge parts can get pin holes and hard to see. Spark plugs all depends on how many miles ya have. But since you said it happens in WET weather, could be a wire issue, loose connection or chaffed wire.

Thank you. It's a 2017 with around 170,000 kms.

It may be that the weather is cold, and the capacity of the battery becomes low, so it can't store electricity

Have you scanned for codes? A misfire, be it random or cylinder specific will set a code.

You need to have someone you can trust run a scan and evaluate fuel trim data, misfires, etc. This should lead you to the cause.

The big concern I have is the infamous 2017 engine oil sludge problem. The suspect cause of this is a collapsed PCV valve hose (rear valve cover, left side).

Back in the day, humid/wet weather provided symptoms you describe as being a faulty plug wire. Maybe with ignition coils it could be the same thing but I dont know how to test them.
