Nissan is depending on its 2013 Pathfinder to boost sales and with a starting price of $28,270, the fourth-generation SUV that seats seven is looking poised to do so with a $1,020 price drop on the base model.

The Japanese automaker just announced pricing and all the trim levels the all-new redesigned Pathfinder will be available in, with the top-of-the-line Platinum four-wheel drive priced from $40,770 before delivery.

The 2013 Pathfinder features a best-in-class fuel economy of 20 mpg city, 26 mpg highway for the two-wheel drive model and 19 mpg city, 25 mpg highway for the four-wheel drive model. All Pathfinder models will be equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 260 hp and mated to a next-generation Xtronic CVT.

Available trim levels include: S ($28,270), SV ($31,530), SL ($34,470), Platinum ($39,170), all with two-wheel drive. Putting power to all four comes at a $1,600 premium. The range will arrive at U.S. dealerships starting in late October.

With pricing being lower than the previous generation and the new Pathfinder appealing to more people it should sell quite well. I like how Nissan priced it to cater for everyone. It can be either affordable or pricey!
