Nissan is preparing to debut a recall campaign that will see the carmaker call back 2,417 units of the Frontier, Pathfinder and Xtrerra belonging to the 2012 model year.

The affected vehicles, which were built at Nissan's Smyrna, Tennessee plant, between June 19 and July 12, 2012 and only use front-wheel drive, come with front wheel hubs that might break.

"These vehicles may have been equipped with front wheel hubs that may not meet the design hardness specifications," a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration statement tells us. "A wheel hub that was manufactured below hardness specification may wear prematurely and eventually crack. If the vehicle is driven in this condition, the wheel hub may break, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash."

Nissan claims that is is not aware of any crashes or injuries related to the aforementioned issue. Dealers will repalce the front wheel hub assemblies, with the recall expected to debut on October 8. If you own one of the affected vehicles, you can contact Nissan at at 1-800-647-7261.

Faulty wheel hubs are no joke and could result in serious injuries of both the drivers and others. I wonder what explanation Nissan has for this. Well guy hopefully all of you call it in and get it over with.
