It is related.......

Hello,
I've had some previous posts re fuel economy, mileage computer etc. I kinda struggled with doing this post at all. I decided that if anyone here experiences unusual fuel economy, i.e up, down, without rhyme or reason, this might help you too.

I had been reading various places about people using "TECHRON Complete fuel system cleaner". My Pathy only has 16,000 miles, and I had not considered that my fuel system would need cleaning, let alone that fuel system cleaners were pretty much snake oil, and may even do some damage. But I must have read a couple of hundred reviews that convinced me that for a lousy $5.00 at Walmart, I could see for myself if there was anything in the black bottle for me.

Well, I did and there is. In my experience, it is worth doing and I'll do it again a few times a year. And, if you aren't completely comfortable with how your Pathy is doing, drop a fiver at Walmart and give it a try. I hope you will be as pleasantly surprised as I am. Happy Trails......

Figured as much... Video is pretty clear. Initial post read like an advertisement.

If it did work, have a new CO2 sensor ready as it will likely foul it.

Hello to eat_crowe, and ekanson,

Like I said in my original post. I was hesitant to post this. I can tell you this. Those were my own words, not done for any other reason than to provide info that may help someone else. That's it.

Today, i did a 480 mi round trip that went over three 6000 ft summits and was driven primarily at 80 mph. That's a little harder than I normally drive usually 70-75 mph, but the results are interesting. MPG average was 25.1 mpg computed from actual data. Computer 2 indicates 17.6 mpg and computer 1 says 27.1 mpg. That center console computer is just like I said, wacko. I feel like the one in the instrument panel is pretty close. Isn't easy to get a known consistent fill every time. SO there will be some variation in the results. A couple of tenths one way or the other isn't too bad. The real test for me comes when I hook up my travel trailer. Adios.

Just noticed that the phone corrected O2 sensor to CO2 sensor.

I get you. I am only curious cos I just had my alternator replaced and my mileage has reduced significantly. Used to average 13.2L/100KM (I'm in Canada) mainly city driving. It is now at 15L/100KM and it has become super sensitive. Driving habits haven't changed. When i hit the highway, after a few hundred meters, I start noticing a decline in the number and when I get back to city driving, number starts going up after a few minutes. And I'm talking about the instrument cluster reading not the centre console. Centre console has been pretty steady at 13.1. I'm going to monitor it for another week or so to see and then I'm taking it for a diagnostics if it doesn't normalize.

Obvious question, but assuming you are resetting the centre console one with every tank full ?

Just around town, I don't reset all the time. I'll let the average accumulate and keep an eye on it. If I'm going on a trip, I'll do a reset at the beginning and do a two way average to see if it differs substantially. Oops! sorry, you said center console. I don't pay too much attention to that anymore. For entertainment purposes, I'll do a reset there just to see how poorly the center one works.
