2017 and 2018 USA Pathfinders Being Recalled

Nissan is recalling more than 215,000 cars and SUVs in the U.S. due to a fire risk. An anti-lock brake pump can leak brake fluid onto a circuit board, causing an electrical short and increasing the fire risk. If drivers see the anti-lock brake warning lamp for more than 10 seconds after starting the engine, Nissan urges them not to drive the vehicles and park them outdoors.

In addition to the 2017 and 2018 model year Pathfinders, the recall also affects 2015 to 2017 Nissan Muranos, 2016 and 2017 Nissan Maximas and 2017 Infiniti QX60 vehicles.

Go to the Nissan Recall Lookup site to see if your Pathy is affected.

How different are the 2017-2018 brakes from all other R52's?

Interesting that Nissan only now adds the PF to the list. "Update January 2017: Important Anti-Lock Brake (ABS) Actuator Safety Recall Information"

"Finger pointing" from that announcement:

Q. What is the reason for safety recall?

A. Due to a supplier issue that has since been corrected, the ABS actuator pump seal may leak, causing the electric circuit board to malfunction. If the vehicle continues to be operated with this condition, the leak could cause a short, which in rare instances, could result in a fire.

I searched for my 2017 and got "There are no open recalls or campaigns associated with this vehicle." I'm in Canada though, and the recall checker is USA, is there a Canadian one (I cannot find it)?

I searched for mine and got the same message and I'm here in the US. Mfg'ed in TN in Nov 2016, sold new in Maryland in Mar 2017. The article I saw was a Canadian article so I was thinking it was a Canadian recall but you are proving that wrong. Possible fake news??

It's all about the journey, not the destination.

I'm guessing that Nissan has been slow to update those databases if indeed, they even know which VINs have the defective part. You'll likely get a letter in the mail if their records show you as the owner.

"If the ABS warning lamp in your vehicle illuminates continually for more than ten (10) seconds after engine start"

tested the car last night, the ABS warning lamp didn't illuminate for more than 10 seconds after starting the engine, so i guess/hoping i'm fine.

i also got the message "There are no open recalls or campaigns associated with this vehicle." 2017 PF SL FWD Build Date: 04/17
