Like Jay said, I'd personally go with floor jack and good quality jack stands. This combo has more range and flexibility in application. I've been using a 3ton rated aluminum hydraulic jack and 2 pairs of 3 ton jack stands.

I have done work from oil changes. Coolant flushes, tranny and differential fluid changes, to HID fog mods using these with no issues. 3 ton rated jacks and stands are higher than required safety recommended.

Your life depends on these tools every time you go under your vehicle. So please don't cheap out on your safety tools.
