Question Question about car ramps:

Hey guys,

First post here I just picked up my 2013 Pathfinder SL about a week ago and its quite an upgrade in comfort to my '15 CRV EX. I was curious if any of you use standard car ramps. I have a newish pair which I am think of returning because the bottom facia kind of grinds against the ramp and I dont want to mess it up. I just jacked the car up a bit and turned the wheel all the way to get the the filter. Wow, dealer must have torqued it on because I had my modify my filter cap wrench to get it off. Jerks!!!!

I was debating returning my ramps to Harbor freight and picking up some rhino ramps which would work better since they are flat. Can I just drive up on the ramps and cause no damage to the bottom of the car? I mean, its plastic after all so I don't trust it. I prefer to get under the car with ramps, just not enough room for me to move underneath the car.

Thanks

I have a set that I haven't used in years, now preferring to use a hydraulic 3-ton jack and jack stands for the very reason you mention. Plus, the ramps get in the way when you're working behind the wheels.

Good to know. Does the manual at all show the jacking points? I would love to be able to jack the car up(center front) and put both stands underneath at the same time but I'm not sure where they would go.

The factory manuals do - but there is only one each, front and rear IIRC.

Holy Crap dude you can EAT off that garage floor. show off!! To be honest I am scared of the plastic rhino ramps after reading some amazon horror reviews with pictures but there are also so many positive ones as well.
What to do what to do.....

We have a set of the old 12k Rhino ramps at work which we load up a 16' box truck a few times a year on.

https://www.amazon.com/RhinoRamp-119.../dp/B0002YTN4I

I suppose their old design was more reliable.

We also once loaded up a 12' box truck using some old cheap steel ramps identical to these below.

But they completely crushed once I drove the loaded truck back down.

1992 Sentra SE-R (SR20DE)
1995 D21 SE 4x4 Pickup (VG30E)
1998 Maxima SE (VQ30DE)
Current:
2002 Maxima SE (VQ35DE)
2013 Pathfinder SL 4x4i (VQ35DE)
