I got that error last week - we had heavy frost and I shut the car off and wiped off the sensors in the rear with my warm hand. Started back up and no error.

We'll see if that was the actual cause after the first few snowy days here in Michigan when the rear of the car cakes with snow.

That's one thing to look out for. Any time sensors go off like that, make sure your sensors aren't obstructed by anything, even by a little dirt build up, even that might set them off. If cleaning that doesn't do anything....then, Dealer!

You can always follow the instructions and consult the owner's manual too. An obstructed sensor sounds like the most likely scenario though. Did you try cleaning off the sensors? Did that solve the problem for you?

The sensors on the back bumper are ultrasonic sensors, and they must be able to vibrate and move freely. Therefore, mud, ice or even wax buildup on the rings may cause a problem. A quick cleaning with a soft brush should do the trick.

It sucks that they're so sensitive that this happens but also a good thing they're like that, at least we know it will detect just about anything, even really minor things.
